I've always had a soft spot for mahogany ukuleles and guitars. So I picked up the Stagg US80-S with high expectations.
For fingerpicking, there is a beautiful clear and balanced tone that mahogany is renowned for. If your looking for a bright sounding uke, something with a bit of punch when your strumming this might not be your cup of tea. That said, it is very well balanced and suprisingly loud.
It's well made with good attention to detail. The tuning pegs could use replacing and maybe a bone nut and saddle would help too. Nothing unsual for a ukulele in this price range.
Overall, a great mid range instrument. One that I would reccomend for beginners and pro's alike, especially fingerpickers.
Let's face it, you get what you pay for.
It seems to me that maybe they cut one corner too many with this ukulele.
Overall, I would say this is a good instrument for a young child. If they show any interest in the playing the instrument, do them a favor and spend a little more money.
This glossy little uke has a spruce top and rosewood back and sides.
The uke I tried seemed to have good attention to detail and attention to detail.
Overall, this is a solid beginners uke.
